MISUSE OF TERRORISM LAWS

sEVERAL POLIVE ARRESTING A PROTESTOR

DEFEND OUR JURIES ‘LIFT THE BAN’ PROTESTS

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND OR ENCOURAGE HOLDING A PLACARD STATING YOU SUPPORT PALESTINE ACTION, A PROSCRIBED ORGANISATION.

If you, however, have independently decided to take part in a Defend Our Juries Protest opposing the proscription of Palestine Action, we highly recommend that you make your intentions clear – that you are not supporting the group itself, but are instead supporting its de-proscription, to mitigate the police’s claim of “reasonable suspicion” of being “a supporter” of a proscribed organisation, a requirement they must show under s.13 Terrorism Act 2000.

To assist with this, Right to Protest Ltd has produced a leaflet which sets out this intention explicitly and unambiguously, and which quotes directly from the Defend Our Juries’ website. It makes explicit that the protester does not support Palestine Action itself, but supports its de-proscription, and they are protesting against the misuse of terrorism laws against a non-violent direct action group.

The leaflet was reviewed and cleared by police at the protest in Parliament Square on 6 September 2025. Police confirmed that it is acceptable because it does not express support for a proscribed group, but for its de-proscription, and may therefore be displayed.

Please watch the video below by Director of Right to Protest Ltd, Ranjeet Brar which explains the purpose of the leaflet and how it may be used.
